Upland Division Winamac Feather Tee

Every November the Indiana DNR stocks roosters at Winamac Fish & Wildlife Area for reserved put-and-take pheasant hunts, rooster only, two a day. You book your field weeks ahead, you walk it in the cold, and if it goes right you come home with a bird and its long center tail feather, the one that ends up tucked in a hat band or on the dash of the truck.

On the shirt: that feather, drawn in hand-stippled dots with the dark bars a rooster's tail carries, running up the back from the hem toward the collar. A real one runs 20 inches or more, so the print cuts it off at the top. A paper field tag is tied to the quill, hand-lettered "Winamac, Nov." A small version of the feather sits on the left chest, and the dune-grass mark is printed on the right sleeve.

Garment dyeing means slight color variation from shirt to shirt. Machine wash cold, tumble dry low.
